Getting to Know You: Casey Harvilla
We asked our new therapist, Casey Harvilla, MA, ATR-BC, LPC, a few questions in an attempt to get to know her better. We thought we'd share this information with you so that you could do the same!
What makes you smile? Why?
Being with friends and family, silly jokes, and experiencing live music. I think when you surround yourself with people and things that make you feel your best, there’s no better reason to smile.
What was the last book you read that had an impact? What were your thoughts on it?
The Handmaid’s Tale. I thought it was very interesting and makes you think about what the world could look like if certain systems were no longer in place.
What was the most interesting place you have traveled? Why?
I visited Graceland in Memphis, TN, last year and thought it was incredible. I learned so much about Elvis Presley and his impact on the town and the music industry, and left feeling a connection with him that I didn’t expect. I would highly recommend a visit there!
Coffee or tea?
Tea, specifically chai or matcha.
What was your latest binge-watch show?
Parenthood.
What emotion do you think is most difficult to express?
Shame, because everyone experiences it, but it is hard to define and pinpoint at times.
How do you build trust in clients?
By listening in a non-judgmental way and working to understand fully where they are coming from and where they would like to go.
If you could have dinner with anyone, whether they are dead or alive, who would it be?
Andy Warhol.
