Katerina Momiroska, LSW, LCSE - Supervisee in training

I am so excited to be a part of this family. My passion has always been working with children,

adolescents and their families to find ways to be successful and glow, and also supporting

traditional and nontraditional families as they navigate the different stages of child and

adolescent development. If you or your family member is struggling and need support, I may be the right fit for you.

Common Reasons Families Seek Support

  • Big emotions that feel hard to manage (frequent meltdowns, anger, sadness, or worry)

  • Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed at home or school

  • Difficulty talking about feelings or shutting down emotionally

  • Low confidence, self-doubt, or negative self-talk

  • Trouble with behavior at home, in school, or in the classroom

  • Struggles with friendships, peer conflict, or feeling left out

  • Difficulty adjusting to changes (new school, family changes, transitions)

  • Challenges with focus, organization, or managing daily responsibilities

  • Family stress, miscommunication, or frequent conflict

  • Feeling misunderstood by parents, teachers, or peers

  • Trouble coping with disappointment, frustration, or transitions

  • Supporting children and teens as they grow through different developmental stages

I am a Licensed Social Worker and LCSW Supervisee in Training

who specializes in working with children and adolescents. Therapy is a collaborative and

supportive process that helps young people better understand their emotions, thoughts, and

experiences while developing practical skills to navigate everyday challenges. Through therapy,

clients build confidence, emotional awareness, and coping strategies that support success at

home, school, and in relationships.

How I Address Client Needs Using a Trauma-Informed Lens

I work from a trauma-informed, strengths-based perspective, recognizing that

experiences—especially stress or trauma—can significantly impact emotional regulation,

behavior, and relationships. My approach emphasizes safety, trust, and empowerment while

helping clients develop self-awareness and resilience. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral

Therapy (CBT) to support emotional insight and skill-building, mindfulness to promote

self-regulation and present-moment awareness, and restorative practices to strengthen

relationships and repair harm. Interventions are developmentally appropriate and tailored to

each child or adolescent’s unique needs.

Professional Experience

I have experience supporting children and adolescents with concerns including anxiety,

emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, social skills development, and school-related

stressors. My professional background includes work in educational and clinical settings,

collaborating closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent and

effective support. I believe meaningful progress occurs when caregivers and professionals work

together in partnership. My experience working with children began as a therapist in a public

school setting, continued as a special education teacher at the secondary level ( and a strong

advocate for student various needs ), district level behavior specialist, and a school based

administrator at the secondary level. In each of my roles the skills learned during my education

at Pitt have allowed me to implement and model deescalation skills, self regulation skills to

students, parents , families and staff.

I believe in building strong relationships with my clients and families , developing trust by

listening and being present, as this is the foundation for progress. Relationship building is an

important stage of counseling and sets the stage for what this will look like.

Our children and adolescent carry invisible backpacks filled with many emotions, and needs we

don’t see daily . As a parent myself, I understand the importance of having a safe person who

can listen and support with the messy feelings in order to learn skills to have successful

relationships with self and others. I would love to be a part of your and your child’s journey and

work together on identifying transferable skills that will allow success for your family long term.
