Larissa Smith, MSW, LCSW, CRP, EDMR Specialist

While it is that we all experience trauma, severe stressors, or just the everyday ups and downs of life, it is not uncommon to feel somewhat out of control and to desire some support in a time perceived to be chaos. One of my great passions is bringing support, understanding, and healing to those going through strife as well as those also just looking to find ways to better themselves.

The purpose of my work is to assist my clients, who may include: children, adults, families, couples, or seniors, to find healthy perceptions of themselves and ways it is that they can make this perception become a reality. I look for all to find a strengthened self worth so that they can know themselves in a more peaceful, complete, safe, and more stable, calm state of being. In addition, to find ways to build upon this for the life worth living it is that they are looking to achieve.

We all are aware that there is no one certain approach to anything in life and that everything is different for every individual, as well as their situation. Knowing this, I have chosen to be trained in various modalities so that I could begin to meet people where there are at and understand what it is that they may benefit from. I work extensively with various modalities including Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Progressive Guided Imagery and Relaxation, Thinking for a Change, Hypnosis for PTSD and Trauma, EMDR, and other various modalities. In addition, I am always open to a Holistic approach being certified as a Reiki practitioner.

My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Psychology and a Master's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Social Work. I also have multiple certifications in external trainings so as to best assist those that I work with.

Other passions that I hold are never fearing trying something new. I achieved my Shodan-Black Belt degree in 2009, and am always eager to learn, try, and never give up on something new. I love to travel to learn about others, new places, and new ways of life.

One of my favorite quotes from my studies along the way, among many, is "Only if you let it".
