Sharissa Shatten, MS, LPC, NCC
Are you feeling stuck? Ready for a change? Frustrated? Stressed? Unmotivated?
We all have been there before - when life starts to overwhelm you. I would love to meet with you and help you through this, together. I am here to support you and help guide you to the best version of you.
My education and background may be a bit different than your typical therapist. My life and career experiences will further help me help you. I graduated with my Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Carlow University. In that time, I also received my Pk-12 School Counseling certification. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minored in Sociology from The University of Pittsburgh (Main Campus). I received my Associate’s degree from CCAC in Psychology. Lastly, I am certified to teach kids and teen yoga classes! I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Nationally Certified School Counselor (NCSC).
As stated above, my life and career experiences can help me help you. I have learned much from my clients in the past, as well as struggles in my own life. Previously, for 4 years, I worked for an organization with families of children who have experienced very traumatic life events, have newly diagnosed mental health disorders, or other concerns. Since then, I worked in a children’s residential treatment facility, assisted with children and adults with intellectual disabilities, and for 4 years as a School Counselor in the Upper St. Clair area, McKeesport area, and Butler area where my experiences range from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I also have taught kids yoga classes for 2 years now, which I incorporate yoga and mindfulness in the classrooms as a school counselor. I have worked with clients in an individual setting as well as group setting.
My theories of practice are through the lens of being solution focused, client centered, and a trauma informed practice. I use more of an integrative approach for therapy in order to borrow from different techniques and theories to fit your needs. I recognize everyone heals differently, and will meet each person where they are. I believe in healing the mind, body, and soul. My goal is to work in collaboration with you on this journey to build up your strengths that are already within. I can promise to provide you with a safe space where we can be open, honest and respectful with one another. I would be honored to help you find your best self! When you are ready to start this journey with me, please give a call to schedule an appointment. I look forward to working with you soon!
