We'd like to introduce you to our newest therapist, Mallory Kurnock, MA, LPC. In order to get to know her better, we've asked her some questions to see if maybe you can connect.

What makes you smile? Why? – My three children make me smile, they bring me so much joy and just seeing the happiness on their faces can quickly make any bad day a good day.

Coffee or tea? – Coffee!! Everyday must start with a cup of coffee!

How do you build trust in clients? – I think that trust in any relationship is so important, and I also think that it is something that is earned. A lot of times people have experienced past relationships that lacked trust and that can make it difficult to open up in future relationships. I think it is important to remember this when working with clients and meeting them where they are at, staying consistent, reliable, and providing encouragement and support.

How would you describe your work in a six word sentence? - I love to help people grow!

What is a small act of kindness you experienced and will never forget? - When my son was in the NICU and very sick after birth, I was terrified as a new mom. I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t know how to help him and I blamed myself for him being sick. I was experiencing a lot of anxiety and didn’t know at that time in my life how to process it. Whereas all of the staff was kind, a lot of them were not able to give me definite answers and were not able to provide the support and validation I needed in the moment to know that everything would be okay. One social worker at the hospital saw that I was very upset and she spent an hour after her shift talking with me and providing me the support I needed in that moment, for her she was doing her job, but to me it meant the world that she was able to take that time out of her today and just listen to me. I will never forget that support!

What was the last movie you saw? Thoughts on it? - As silly as this sounds the last movie I watched was Toy Story with my kids. At the very basic level, this movie was about love and friendship. It showed that relationships go through different phases and change as we grow but the people that we love and care about will always be there.

What is your latest binge-watch show? - I am not one that watches a lot of tv shows, but I love You-Tube. Lately, I have binge watching Disney World Planning guides.
