Sam Kravits, LAPC has joined our practice, and we want you to get to know her better. We've asked her some questions so that you can get some answers about who you are working with in your healing journey.

How would you describe your work in a six word sentence?

I meet people where they are.

What is a small act of kindness you experienced and will never forget?

After a long, difficult day, I went to the grocery store for a few items. I realized I forgot my wallet in the car and asked the cashier to hold my items while I grabbed it—when I came back in, the person behind me in line had paid for my things!

When did you first know you wanted to work in the helping field?

I knew I wanted to be in a helping profession since I was a kid! I had a family full of helpers and I knew I wanted to follow in those footsteps because I witnessed their positive impact on others. I got lucky!

If you could be an insect, which would you be?

A spider! I am a fiber artist (i.e. crochet, embroidery, sewing) and it reminds me of spinning a web. I also love spooky things and what is spookier than a spider?

What is the most recent photo saved to your phone? Why did you take the photo?

My cat because he is the cutest!

What was your latest binge-watch show?

Bob's Burgers is a consistent background noise in my house at this point!

How do you build trust in clients?

I approach therapy in a person-centered manner and bring authenticity and healthy vulnerability into session. I believe trust is built through consistency and communication.

Did you have a role model when you were growing up? Who was it? Why?

My mom! Her motto was "treat 'em with kindness," even when people were being "difficult." She leads with compassion and fairness because you never know what someone is going through personally.
