Making Her Way to Private Practice: Becca Burbules

Meet Becca Burbules, LCSW, our newest team member at PPA. We are excited to have her starting in Private Practice with us and want to help you get to know her better. We have asked Becca several getting-to-know-you questions and you can read her responses below!

What makes you smile? Why?: Watching a beautiful sunset as it brings about a certain calmness and feeling of awe simultaneously that leads me with a great hope for the coming day, week, season, and more.

What was the last book you read that had an impact? What were your thoughts on it?: Maybe You Should Talk To Someone by Lori Gottlieb. Yes, it is a book about therapy, but it delves into the experiences for both the therapist and the client. It was a great learning tool but also a reminder of the privilege it is to bear witness and accompany people through the various highs and lows of their journeys.

What is the most recent photo saved to your phone? Why did you take the photo?: My 2 golden retriever mixes; they were enjoying the beautiful Pittsburgh summer weather!

Coffee or tea?: Coffee!

What was your latest binge-watch show: Mare of Easttown, the acting and storyline of a strong, intelligent, stubborn, and loyal woman who faces stressors and joys between her family and career life was an emotionally exhausting yet rewarding binge.

What emotion do you think is most difficult to express?: Sadness, you have to trust that the person you express this emotion with will allow a safe space to support a feeling that can be uncomfortable for some to be around.

How do you build trust in clients?: Validation, transparency, and empathy

If you could have dinner with anyone, whether they are dead or alive, who would it be?: Robin Williams. I can’t help but laugh when watching any short, clip, or movie with him in it. He was and remains always an instant up lifter for me.
