Life can be complicated and it is not always easy to ask for help. Entering into therapy is a wonderful investment in yourself. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment for you to learn to appreciate and enjoy yourself, your life, and your relationship with others. It is my goal to help you to live a self-determining, authentic life based on who you truly are. You cannot change the past, yet you have the ability to increase your satisfaction in the future by gaining a deeper understanding of the way you view your experiences and the world around you.
My approach is warm, respectful, accepting, and empathetic. I provide support to adults, couples, teens, and lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender individuals to address a wide range of issues including grief and loss, depression, anxiety, relationships, spirituality, gender identity, the coming out process, LGBTQ specific issues, and more.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor, and a Board Certified Transgender Care Specialist. I received certifications in conflict resolution and mediation in 2006 from the Pittsburgh Mediation Center (now the Dialogue and Resolution Services of the Center for Victims), earned my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Thiel College, and a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Carlow University. I have nine years’ experience as a mediator, and fourteen years’ experience in community outreach working with individuals and families in crisis. I served as facilitator with the YWCA Center for Race and Gender Equity and the National Conference of Community and Justice; as bereavement counselor for hospice patients and their loved ones; and as support volunteer to individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS.
I look forward to meeting you.
