As we always do when highlighting our new clinicians, we have asked Lauren Roycroft, MSEd, NCC, LPC to answer some questions about herself so that her potential clients can get to know her. We've asked and she responded.

How would you describe your work in a six word sentence?:

Your feelings and emotions do matter.

What makes you smile? Why?:

People following what makes them happy. Individuality is beautiful.

What is the word you use most often?:

The word I use most often is manners! As the parent of twins there is never a dull moment.

What was the last movie you saw? Thoughts on it?:

The Tomorrow Wars. The movie left me with questions about science.

Coffee or tea?:

Coffee in the morning to start the morning, tea in the evening to relax.

How do you build trust in clients?:

I start to build rapport while taking the opening sessions at the clients own pace. I allow my clients to build a safe space in my office before discussing topics that way my clients feel safe enough to allow me to work with them to achieve their personal goals.

Did you have a role model when you were growing up? Who was it? Why?:

Growing up I always wanted to be like my dad because he was and still is incredibly supportive, understanding, open minding and compassionate. My dad taught me the value of hard work and the importance of being humble.  I remember every event my dad coached not just for me but for my siblings and how it felt to know the feeling of being supported. I learned what it means to be compassionate and the value in helping others because we all need help sometimes. I strive to embody the values of compassion, understanding, and try to meet everywhere where he or she may be at in that moment.
